TVS Apache RTR 310 refined, comfort improved via service camp

TVS recently held a camp for owners of the Apache RTR 310 in Bengaluru and has peppered the motorcycle with some small but significant changes.

  1. Heavier bar-end weights now installed to quell vibrations
  2. Reduced lag during throttle roll off via software update
  3. Quickshifter wiring rerouted to eliminate random cut-offs

TVS Apache RTR 310 throttle map, ECU updates

TVS calls this the Carecraft camp, where it performed a number of updates on the RTR 310, ranging from electronic to comfort to mechanical.

Let’s start with the comfort-related updates. The rider seat cushion was changed and the new one is claimed to have better foam density. The foam packing, which is placed on the inner side of the fuel tank mounting was also changed, and TVS says the density has been modified to absorb vibrations better and fit better. The bar-end weights were changed to slightly heavier units to absorb vibrations better.

Coming to the electronic updates on the flagship Apache naked, the ECU software was changed to reduce the lag during throttle roll off. The software update also aims to improve throttle response. Additionally, the quickshifter’s wiring routing was also changed to eliminate random cut-offs mid-ride, which seemed to happen on multiple customer units.

These issues were things we pointed out when we first rode the Apache RTR 310 last year and it’s encouraging to see TVS attempt to proactively work towards improving customer bikes. These updates should make the RTR a more comfortable and refined machine, although we’ll reserve final judgement until we can ride the updated bike.
