Coming to the design, the Classic 650 is almost identical to the Royal Enfield Classic 350. It features the same headlight cowl with the chrome shade and the iconic Royal Enfield tiger eyes pilot lights, then there’s a similar telescopic fork with metallic fork covers that extends down from the headlight cowl.
The fuel tank is teardrop-shaped and the bike also gets metal front and rear fenders like the Classic 350. The tail light shroud is also similar to the Classic 350 with the round tail light and bulb-type indicators. The exhaust setup on the bike is a bit different and consists of twin peashooters, and looks like we believe this will make the Classic 350 sound quite different from the Interceptor 650. From the video, it almost sounds like it has a ‘thump’ similar to the Classic 350.
Much like the Classic 350, the Classic 650 appears to get a telescopic fork and twin rear shocks, the bike rolls on what look like 18-inch spoke wheels with tube-type tyres at both ends.
It also gets disc brakes at both ends, likely to be a 320mm and a 300mm disc at the front and rear with dual-channel ABS as standard as we have seen on the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 and the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650.
The Classic 650 will be powered by the same 648cc air/oil-cooled parallel twin engine which produces 47.45PS and 52Nm.
We expect the retro roadster to be launched at a price of Rs 3.2 lakhs (ex-showroom) and will be launched somewhere around late 2024 or early 2025. Currently there are no direct rivals to the Classic 650 and the closest alternative will be the Kawasaki Z650RS which comes at an ex-showroom price of Rs 6.99 lakhs, significantly more expensive than the Classic.
